The computer-based management game MOSHI (Management of Small Hospitals) was developed in Tanzania in order to enhance the professional management training programme for African hospital administrators. The players are in charge of a virtual hospital and make strategic and tactical decisions. Thus, they can initiate health education programmes, test personnel management policies and optimise the materials management. A management information system supports these decisions. As MOSHI reflects the culture and management reality of Eastern Africa, it has become an integrated part of management training in Tanzania. Furthermore, it is used as training tool at the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg.
