Mobile Terminals: From Cellphone to Universal Pocket Organizer

Advances in mobile terminal technology are proceeding at the same blinding pace as those in the underlying microelectronics and software industries. Every few weeks a new cellphone comes out, and invariably, it´s smaller, more colorful and cheaper than its predecessors. But design, size and low cost are by no means the only important factors in terminal innovation today. The goal is all-purpose function: The coming generations of mobile terminals will be able to operate in different networks, send faxes and E-mails, surf the Internet, allow you to do your home banking, and even transmit photographs and video. The integration of various computer and telephone functions will turn these terminals into universal pocket organizers. The following articles give a general idea of what is possible at the moment and what is desirable for the future.
