Java as a Language for Mobile Agents

Mobile agents have been a topic of research in industry and university for several years now. This article first presents the concept of mobile agents and their application. Then, the properties of mobile agent systems are discussed, laying the focus on the suitability of Java for the implementation of these systems. The realisation of agent mobility is discussed in detail and itinerary concepts are presented.
