An Inter-Industry Interoperability Concept for Fieldbus Objects

Nowadays, many different industries implement automation systems with fieldbus networks. Their software architecture is based on components which are defined in profiles. Profiles define application functions, but usually lack support for inter-industrial applications. By defining generic profiles and applying inheritance mechanisms, inter-industrial functions can be defined without having to neglect industry-specific requirements and standards.
