Integration of LMS and Lecture Recording Systems: Requirements and Potentials

Keywords: Vorlesungsaufzeichnung, LMS, Automatisierung

If LMS (Learn Management Systems) are fully integrated into a university′s administrative workflow like course management and reservation of lecture theatres, they offer a number of potentials for the automation of lecture recording. By means of direct communication between the LMS and a lecture recording system, metadata can directly be inserted into the re-corded material and the interaction with technical equipment in the lecture theatres can be made completely transparent to the user. An additional advantage is given by the fact, that the upload and distribution of the recorded material can be fully automated. The following article presents a concept for the integration of the virtPresenter lecture recording system and the Stud.IP LMS. The article also identifies requirements and potentials of such an approach in general.
