Information Input Overload, Coping Strategies and Implications for Process Control Systems

Process control in control rooms is currently in a state of technological change driven by recent developments in information technology. The continual integration of new control devices carries with it the risk of overburdening the human operators, with a major source of danger here being information input overload. This article addresses this phenomenon and the implications for user-centered process control.
