The online shops of today often collect more personal data than required for a shopping transaction. This is one reason why a lot of people do not use e-commerce for shopping: they are afraid of misuse of their data. We examine which data must be transmitted by the customer in the individual phases of a purchasing transaction. In the second part we introduce a personal identity management system. This system allows the user to manage the release of his personal data according to the situation.
