Finding out Drivers′ Requirements for Assistance by Means of User-Mock-Ups

This paper discusses a User-Mock-Up as a method to find out drivers′ requirements for the user-oriented design of Driver Assistance Systems. After discussing the aims and consequences of driver assistance, a driver-oriented approach to developing assistance systems is described, taking into account the psychological design of actions.
A User-Mock-Up is suitable for discovering users′ notions of assistance before the final design decisions are made. Designers can thus include user intentions in the early stages of the engineering process.
