This article provides an overview of the state of the art in control architectures for autonomous agents. We present three important types of architectures, i.e., for reactive, deliberative, and social agents. Then we describe bybrid approaches to reconcile the advantages of these basic types. The aim of the latter is to support the development of agents capable of reactive, deliberative and social behavior.
