Computer Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW)

In this article we give an introduction into the area of computer supported cooperative work (CSCW). First, we outline the research and application area with the help of three classification schemes. Then we concentrate on specific characteristics of CSCW applications (groupware), especially group awareness and tackle success factors of groupware. Finally, we give a short overview of current developments.
