Comparative Usability Analysis of Business-to-Customer-Solutions: An Internet-Brokerage-Example

The paper introduces a method for usability evaluation that integrates functional and usage-oriented elements of business-to-customer solutions. The method is based on usabi-lity principles and allows direct comparisons of designs and software solutions. As a result, existing solutions can be benchmarked and mutually compared on the basis of principles for heuristic evaluation and scenario-based testing. Of particular benefit is the consideration of domain knowledge besides criteria of usability, in our case internet brokerage. We report on an international cross check of brokerage applications to demonstrate the use of the technique.
