One of the key problems in designing embedded systems with hard time constraints is the synthesis of a realistic prototype and the mapping of the specification to a suitable execution platform. Within most design environments the specification is mapped to a powerful processor to validate the system functionality. In contrast to this functional prototype our approach of an architecture-precise prototype enables the designer to evaluate the systems functionality as well as the evaluation of different systems architectures. Starting from abstract system requirements and performance models of communication links, a system communication structure is derived automatically. The complete system is transferred to a new developed execution platform for evaluation and system validation under real-time conditions.
