The importance of stability constant determination for the calculation of speciation diagrams is illustrated through several examples pertaining to the coordination chemistry in solution of trivalent lanthanides with chemically modified calixarene derivatives substituted either at the wide or the narrow rim by carboxylic acid, glycine or CMPO moieties. The influence of the analytical composition of the systems investigated is particularly analyzed.
