The buffer capacity of reacting chemical systems at equilibrium have been considered. In order to draw more conclusions about the nature of the buffer capacity it is useful to separate the reaction buffer capacity from the total buffer capacity. The reaction buffer capacity was analyzed both for a single reaction and multiple reactions. For a single reaction a detailed analysis of the reaction buffer capacity curve was done. For multiple reactions it was shown that the reaction buffer capacity may be decomposable into contributions coming from a distinct class or reactions or equilibria, namely, response reactions.
